Kellys Point Hire have recently been supplying a range of plant hire equipment to Geda Construction at works currently being carried out on Warrenpoint’s Water Works & Water Treatment facilities.
This project will help address water pollution in Carlingford Lough, and forms part of the Shared Waters Enhancement & Loughs Legacy (SWELL) project, which is being funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The €35m EU-funded SWELL project aims to improve the quality of water in Carlingford Lough and Lough Foyle through the upgrade of wastewater assets on both sides of the border. The project’s legacy will be the development of a unique ecosystem model that will support further improvements in these shared waters.
Kellys Point Hire have been supplying everything from lighting towers, to diggers, as well as submersible, centrifugal and diesel pumps.
Geda Contruction’s contract, worth approx. £6.5 million, includes the construction of new concrete structures which will treat wastewater entering the site, including attenuation tanks, aeration tanks and inlet works. There is also extensive pipework, and MEICA works to be completed.
We’re very pleased to be involved in such an important project to help reduce pollution in the iconic Carlingford Lough.
